'reading'/indexing Word & PDF files

Hi,
In our CRM solution, we provide the possibility to archive/store documents (like Word, Excel and PDF files). These files are technically stored in a ‘BLOB’.
We want to add the following feature (if possible): the text of the Word or PDF files also needs to be stored in the database, so users are able to search for archived documents by text searches.
So we need a routine/plugin which can ‘read’ Word and PDF documents while being stored.
(a bit comparable with ‘Spotlight’ on the Mac)
Does someone knows a solution for this?

For reading a word document you could use our Word Plug-in (http://www.it2be.com/index.php/plugins- … rd-plug-in).
I don’t have an out-of-the-box solution for pdf but creating a plug-in for that is doable…

I thought the Word plugin (which seems to be very handy) is only for creating and not for ‘reading’ .doc files.
Can the reading-option also be used in the Word plugin version for Servoy 3.57? (We didn’t step-over to version 4.1 yet) ;-)

You are correct assuming that the Word Plug-in is only for writing when we talk about Servoy 3.
The new Word Plug-in for Servoy 4 does both and will see more and more features the coming months.

So far there are no plans to port the new Plug-in back to Serovy 3. When you want that please add a sales ticket to our support system so that we can discuss this…
