Servoy Corruption

Hi

I am not sure where this should be posted, however I am having a problem with an existing install of Servoy.

The issue is that Servoy wont quit and requires a force quit on the Mac to close the application. All the functionality seems to work OK however when one or two of the methods are open in a large solution the method tab wont close in the method editor. To date this has been the for runner to the repository being corrupted and failing to open. I am therefore interested to know is anyone else has experienced these sort of problems and IF there is a solution. My experience to date is that the cure is a complete re install of Servoy and a new repository. I have found the same symptoms with both MySQL and Sybase Repositories so I am fairly certain this is not database related.

I am using:
Mac OSX 10.5.2
Servoy 3.5.5 (has been the case since 3 so not issue specific)
In this case MySQL repository

I have almost all of the IT2be plugins installed, but for the current solution none are being used. I also have the XML plugin from Dr Maison installed again not being used in this solution.

SO to re iterate has anyone else experienced this behavior and is there a known work round. Also is there a way to refresh or similar the repository or at least test for a corruption ?

Cheers
Gordon

Hi Gordon,

What java version do you use ?

1.5.0_13-119 which as far as I know is the current Apple standard install

Hmm…yeah that is the latest Java5 version for Leopard.
In my experience Java on Leopard is kinda funky (to use an understatement). The very reason I started doing most of my development in VMWare.
But that doesn’t answer your question.
Maybe one of the Servoyans can shed some light on this. Or else contact them directly (phone/email).

Thanks for trying Robert

I have had the same issue on and off in 10.4 and can see why you might want to look at VMware perhaps I will have to do the same ! :(

Hi,

Interesting, sometimes have to force quit my Developer on Mac OS X 10.5.2 with latest Java + PostgreSQL. I have been blaming my error_handler function in Servoy – the problem typically occurs after some validation error prevents some data from being saved. Also, I sometimes end up with dead or duplicated method tabs in the script editor.

I have not experienced ANY corruption of the repository so far.

Excellent - this is exactly what I have experienced. Once it starts the problem progressively gets worse until the application wont run effectively eg spinning ball of death for every keystroke etc - I had decided it was my MySQL Repository until I managed to do the same thing with Sybase.

Thanks for reply to the post - I thought it was just me :)
