Servoy Developer Configuration

Have you looked at the state of your Servoy Developer Configuration lately?
Mine is a mess. So I ran a brand new install on a server, updated it to 4.1.2, and… well, it is also a mess!

Am I the only one? To find out, go to the Help Menu > Software Updates > Manage Configuration, then deploy the node c:\Program Files\Servoy\developer (or equivalent for your installation/platform).

This is what I see:

If I click on the first node “Dynamic Languages Toolkit Core Frameworks…”, and “Show properties”, then “Status” in the new window, i get this long list of “feature missing”:

When there is that much problem and missing dependencies, generally Eclipse is not too stable, so I wonder when I see all these: Is it a miracle that my Servoy Developer manages to work agains all odds?

I REPEAT that it is on a brand new 4.1 install + update to 4.1.2 - no external plugin installed (not even SVN) - Classical WinXP Pro SP3 - Java 1.6.0_13.
No error was reported during install, nothing is supposedly wrong.

So how is your configuration? Is the Servoy team aware of the state of the installation, or do we need to file a case to the support?

I am amazed  to be the only one worrying about that !

Hi Patrick,

I see the same thing. But since it doesn’t seem to affect my development I don’t worry to much about it. :)
But maybe good to file a bugreport in Servoy’s Support System.

Hi Robert,

if you try to install other Eclipse plugins into this configuration, you will likely run into multiple problems…

I’d like to be able to use Servoy as I would any Eclipse distribution, adding a few tools to build myself an integrated environment.
After all, isn’t it what an IDE is for?

I’m thinking at open source plugins for UML or DB Design, like the Amateras project, the Aquarius Orm Studio or Azzurri Clay, SVN of course and some other nice tools, like a prototyping tool named WireFrameSketcher.

I fear I will not be able to install these and work reliably with these if the installation is not clean from the start!

I will file a case to the support.

Hi Patrick,

I do agree.

I will file a case to the support.

Thanks!

I submitted a case to the support system: #210637

Hope they will have a look at it.

I stumbled on this thread while looking for a solution to a differnet problem. Checking the Product Configuration here shows the same symptoms (folders with little red x’s). I cannot say whether this is a problem or not, because I am new to the Eclipse IDE. I just wanted to provide you with a sanity check.

I have received an update yesterday from the Servoy support stating that the case #210637 is “closed-fixed” and should be included in the upcoming 4.1.3

Thanks to Johan Compagner who took a look at this.
