small bugs in client

I am beginning to use servoy in a multi-user production envirmonment and noting some small bugs in Servoy Client.

  1. It does not remember the perferences when they are reset on the client. I am not sure about all preferences but for sure it does not remember the LAF theme. It always reverts to the way it was the first time the client was downloaded onto the machine.

  2. When you log on it always reverts to the username of the last person to have logged on anywhere on the network. This should be in the preferences file so it reverts to the last username to log on at that station.

it looks like i can’t save youre preference file!

can you look in youre directory on windows it is mostly:

c:\documents and settings\youreloginname.servoy

and then servoy_client.properties

is that file getting saved?
And is the selectedlnf for youre server (servername, portnumber in front) really the wrong one?

Johan,

These are my observations. I admitt they do not make much sense, but I am sure this is what happens.

  1. If I delete the .Servoy folder from the Documents and Settings folder and reload the solution, it creates a new properties file. When I quit the client it also puts a solution file in there. OK so far.
  2. If I reload the solution it loads a solution with the settings specified on the server? (to my great annoyance it does not take the date format from the server and the users greatly dislike looking at dates with the day and month reversed)
  3. If I quit and reload the client at this point it does not seem to take its properties from the preferences file. It looses the look and feel theme, date formatt…
  4. If I look at the properties files in the .Servoy folder it actually says the correct thing. ie) it has the correct look and feel them and my changes to date format stored, but at this point the client does not seem to be reading this preference file when it loads. So I think it stores the preferences file correctly but fails to read it when the client loads.

I hope you can fix it in the next version as it creates a big problem for the users.

Thanks

John McCann

if you still have this problem with 2.1rc1 then please tell me.
I have no idee how this is possible because i can’t reproduce this at all.

For example is the window position and size also stored?
If you set the client frame to another position and make it smaller or greater. Is this also not restored?
