Java for Mac OS X 10.5 Update3 / 10.4 Release 8 out

Apple released java updaters for Mac OS X 10.5 and Mac OS X 10.4 today.
On the Apple Java-dev list they gave the following information:

Java for Mac OS X 10.5 Update 3 and Java for Mac OS X 10.4, Release 8 were just released to Software Update. These updates deliver improvements to the security and compatibility of Java on Mac OS X, and address a resource loading issue that affected Java Web Start applications on both 10.4 and 10.5.

Manual installers and additional information are available at:

http://support.apple.com/downloads/Java … Update_3
http://support.apple.com/downloads/_Jav … _Release_8

Of course it’s also available via Software Update.
As always, make backups first.

Hope this helps.

Yep, and when you want to know more about what they actually did change besides the security stuff you are stuck.
They are as informative as ever :?

That’s why I’m waiting for a bold guy to install and report the results… :)

I installed it on a test server (Mac OS X 10.5.6 Server) and so far it all seems stable. Tested 4.1 and 3.5.7.

Any change in the Look&Feel? Is it still usable? I’m not asking if there are improvements because knowing Apple so well I know there aren’t, but at least I hope they didn’t break anything… :)

I don’t see any change. It’s still usable.

I am already working with it in eclipse and servoy 4 eclipse.
No noticable changes I believe…

I see no comments on macfixit (yet) either…

'k, upgraded my MacBook Pro and it might be me but things feel more snappy.
I am using Java 1.5.0_16-133

Upgrading your Macs on Friday 13th… you must be feeling lucky!

ROTFL :D

It was that or Saturday the 14th…I’ll take my chances with the 13th.

Everything seems to work fine here with Servoy 3.5.8 after the Java update on OS X 10.5.6.
No LAF issues noticed.

Hmmm… one more positive report and I could consider to install it… next week :)
