Is there any best practice on the java versions for the server and the smartclient.
Should the server always have the highest java version that is beeing used on the clients or ??

Server and client versions are not really related.
Best is to use both a java 6 version.

thats about a developer…
But i believe that there are a certain java installs that are not really stable on linux.
But our own servers run the one from sun itself just fine.
