Some of our users have reported that their Smart Client desktop shortcut has disappeared
Has anyone seen this ? Perhaps a Java thing ?
Server is 7.4.1, and mostly Java 7 on the clients

Hi Greg
You mean a desktop icon was created but after a while (days, weeks?) it disappeared without throwing it manually in the trash? I haven’t seen that internally here (around 6 Macs) either with OS X 10.4 to 10.9, currently 10.9.5 for all the past years. We still use Java 1.6.
Does it make a difference from which browser the desktop icon was created?
Servoy 7.3.1
Regards
Yes, it seems the Desktop icon disappears, and is not in the Trash
Very odd. Not sure which Browser was used

Hi Greg,
Did they perhaps cleared their Java cache (see Java Control panel). If so that does indeed delete the desktop shortcut as well.
The Users in this case are not that smart
Our IT Dept is looking into it

Hi, did you work out what is going with the shortcuts?
I have Mac users reporting that they are unable to get the Servoy icon to stick in the Dock.
Clients:
Servoy 7.4.x / Mac OS X 10.8.5 to 10.10 / Java 8
Server running on Windows Server 2008 R2, Java 7.
No resolution here
did you work out what is going with the shortcuts ?
on Mac, there is (still) an issue, that when you start the smart-client via the jnlp link, you can’t attach the icon to the dock. If you still do that, and close your smart-client, the doc, changes in somekind of Terminal icon.
If you start, the smart-client by clicking on the created desktop-icon, than you can attach (permanent) the program icon to the dock!
Very annoying, but it’s already the case, when we use Oracle Java 7, on OSX
The problem we are having is not the Dock
The created desktop-icon disappears, for many of our users
A very odd nuisance

I also had this behavior already. I dont know that it has to do with the Servoy Developer on the same Mac.
Once, after start the solution the icon was no longer on my destop. To start the solution new from the application server does not recreate the icon. I had to delete first the installed solution in the Java control panel and start the solution again from the application server.
