Under Servoy 5.1 Sybase SQL Anywhere was free of charge for Servoy users as I understand it.
Does this still hold now that 5.2 has gone open source, and if so can I rely in being able to use without Sybase without royalties for at least 5 years?
As I understand it is that the Sybase license you got on Sybase 9.x/10.x/11.x with Servoy is a perpetual license. So you can keep using that version with newer versions of Servoy. Of course newer Sybase versions might not be covered under this license.
Just remember it was a license to be used with Servoy only, so if you want to use PHP or another technology with Sybase you need to get another license from them.
Robert is correct. Every Servoy Smart Client 5.1 also includes a iAnywhere Client Access license, it is OEM so only Servoy can connect on it. The license is perpetual so you can use it as long as you want to. You can still purchase 5.1 licenses if you need more licenses. It looks like we will be able to offer this until december this year when most likely our OEM will expire. We hope to post more details on our website soon.
