I can launch Servoy only if Sybase is already running. In addition I cannot create a new db server; always returns an error.
A new-to-me G4 Mac, reformatted hard drive, freshly installed OS, running 10.4.4. This machine has never seen Servoy before. Downloaded the installer for Servoy 2.2.4.
On launch it tells me it “can’t connect to the repository server specified in the application preferences. java.sql.SQLException: JZ006: Caught IOException: java.net.ConnectException: Connection refused.”
I go to Servoy Preferences/DB Servers, click on “repository_server”. It looks normal. (see attachment). When I click the OK button a dialogue appears saying: “Changing repository_server needs application restart.”
I now quit Servoy but keep the database running. Launch Servoy again and I’m able to run the CRM solution just fine. Quit Servoy and the database. Launch Servoy again and the same “can’t find repository” message comes up again.
The purpose of this new-to-me Mac is to run exactly the same setup as I am currently on my Windows machine. It’s essential to be able to create a new database server on this machine.
One problem has gone away, the other one remains. This Mac continues to require a double boot of Servoy – one to nudge the repository into action, the second one to get Servoy to actually launch.
Since my first posting I’ve discovered I can indeed create a new database provided I’ve first performed the double boot described above.
Since this is a virgin machine there’s something amiss with the mix of Servoy/SybaseASA/MacOSX10.4.4.
Are other Mac users having this problem with Servoy – a double boot to get the repository to wake up?
launch Sybase (from the commandline or via a startupitem) before launching Servoy. The problem is that when you first launch Servoy, servoy launches Sybase, BUT times out waiting for Sybase to be ready. When you restart Servoy, you are merely giving more time to Sybase to finish the Sybase launch proces. So the second time you launch Servoy Sybase is ready and waiting. I stopped a long time ago using Sybase, however I seem to recall that you could launch Sybase graphicly throug Sybase Central ?
Anyway I think this subject has already been covered extensibly in the forum search for Sybase & mac
