Of course, where appropriate adapted to the Servoy environment. Although after the install I can see the Entity Modeler plug-in when creating a new perspective (see attachement), I can’t see the WOLips plug-in, which should be there as well as can be seen in the example creation of an WO Application http://wiki.objectstyle.org/confluence/ … pplication
But if creating and switching perspective to the Entity Modeler, I don’t get any Entity Modeler perspective menus displayed, they stay the same, i. e. they are still Servoy menus, see attachment.
Has anyone tried to install the Entity Modeler with WOLips on a Mac and if so did it work? Or does Servoy Eclipse not fully support the installation of other plug-ins?
If someone can share experience or Servoy could tell me if this is not possible at all that would be very helpful.
Has anyone tried to install the Entity Modeler with WOLips on a Mac and if so did it work?
I have not, sorry…
Or does Servoy Eclipse not fully support the installation of other plug-ins?
The installation of any plugin is no issue at all.
The ‘issue’ can be that the plugin does not support Eclipse. An example is refactoring as mentioned in another post.
When a plugin is well designed it will not show up (or its functions will not show up) where it does not (or can’t) add any functionality…
Thanks! The WOLips with Entity Modeler plug-in does support Eclipse, as it only runs in the standard Eclipse/Java environment, i. e. WebObjects runs only in Eclipse as an environment.
Hmmm, I am wondering what that means. As you can see in my screenshots, the Entity Modeler plug-in shows up but does not display the menus (like Create Entity, Add Attribute, Add Relationship, …) if I set the Entity Modeler perspective. So I am stuck here (for the moment

That’s what I am going to do. Drawback with this sort of problems is that it tends to become a ping-pong. As the Entity Modeler is a free modelling tool for Eclipse, I hoped Servoy is going to try it, so they would much faster see what’s wrong as they know the Servoy internas and where to look for any error messages, if there are such.
And they even could may be deliver Servoy including this free entity modelling tool, which would be cool (but may be I am the only one thinking so

Why don’t you ask the developers if there is a dependency set for an editor (or whatever).
I think that will help you much faster than asking it here
We tried to install another plug-in to Serclipse - no luck as well as with the WOLips plug-in. We tried to install the UML plug-in found at http://www.slimeuml.de. To be installed with 4 easy steps. As this doesn’t work either and is so easy to install, I assume the plug-in architecture of Servoy 4 does not work or only works for some (tested?) plug-ins!?
Does anybody really have successful installed a UML plug-in for example, in Servoy 4.0.1? Which one?
There is really no restriction to plugins you can install.
The only restriction is the way it works with the other installed plugins and that is what Servoy is as well.
A plugin for Eclipse.
I could see that I make this part of the new Analyzer but I am not sure if that is something that more want and if it is commercially interesting…
I don’t think I (exactly) understand what you mean. Have you got any idea why my 2 attempts to install and use plug-ins failed. I mean, what else can I do except following the install instructions and expect that after succesful installation I can use the the functionality? Or is this a too easy view? Other steps necessary?

No I don’t otherwise I would have told you so!
As said before this product might not work together with Servoy.
I don’t know, that is up to the developer to tell you.
It is not necessarily so that one plug-in works (well) together with the other.
In my opinion you are expecting answers about another product from the Servoy forum that can only be answered with generic answers unless somebody has used/installed the modeler plugin.
From the # of people that replied I am afraid that the answer to that question is zero…
So, and I understand that it is not an answer that helps you much further but I still think that you have to ask the developer and/or work together with them to have it working.
I hoped Servoy is going to try it
You can file a support case to see if they are willing to do so or pay somebody to help you if you think this is really a tool you need/want…
Ok, thanks Marcel for your opinion, may be I was naive to believe, but I thought getting Servoy in the Eclipse IDE would open a relative hassle free new world to use other plug-ins together with Servoy, but that seems to have been a wrong assumption
If I have to take the role of the integrator of plug-ins to Serclipse, it’s then quite unrealistic for me - in terms of needed time and money.
Eclipse is the facilitator for WorkBenches to develop XML, Java, JavaScript and much more.
It depends on the purpose of the plugin what WorkBench it will work with/for (as I said earlier).
There are many, many plugins for the different WorkBenches.
Servoy is a new plugin with a new workbench, the JavaScript editor used by Servoy is also relatively new.
I am sure a couple of plugins will become available in the near future. If only because I am developing a couple
BTW that still does not say anything about the plugin that you tested!
