partnering with iAnywhere

Recently, after poking around on ianywhere.com and downloading this-and-that, I got an email from an iAnywhere Partner Account Manager which said, in part, " I look forward to talking with you about your project, your objectives, your evaluation criteria, your concerns and any questions you may have about our product or our company."

I gave him a call and we had a lovely conversation. It seems to me that perhaps a stronger relationship between Servoy dev’s and Sybase/iAnywhere could benefit us developers, Servoy license sales, and of course iAnywhere (thereby keeping the relationship, and the nice “free database” that comes with Servoy, alive).

Has anyone developed an ongoing partnership with iAnywhere? Any thoughts?

thanks,

kazar

Well, so far I’m in here talking to myself, but just wanted to add one thing that came out in my conversation with the Sybase account manager: Through him integraton specialists can be located and hired. Something to think about for those of us who may have Servoy “products” for sale, but may need to hire “local legs” at remote locations to integrate our apps with exisitng in-house databases/networks/servers.

Ilyse,

I talk to myself all the time ! Very, very interesting bloke - if you keep him sober :-)

On the case here as I recently posted a general question about offline client and synchronisation to the forum ( no replies ! ) which leans towards the use of Sybase Mobilink server - which is grey area seemingly to most developers.

This in istelf seems to me to be such a fundamental tool to be explored and innately a product of our friends at Sybase !!

I wonder which Harry I will run into when I first see you at servoyworld, Harry Jeckell or Harry Hyde?

Yes, offline databasing is a great possibiity for many customer scenarios. Sales force in the field. Delivery truck drivers with tablets. Another tool I would like to know more about is mobile applications.

I get emails from iAnywhere every couple of weeks announcing their Webinars. I haven’t “attended” any live yet so I don’t know if the sound is broadcast or if one needs to dial in by telephone. But, even if the latter is the case, for those who don’t live States-side, or who miss a presentation, or who simply choose to view past presentations, there is an archive of webcasts on the iAnywhere site.

Upcoming events (including one on mobility computing) are found at http://www.ianywhere.com/events/index.html, and a long list of archived “on demand” presentations are at http://www.ianywhere.com/products/presentations.html, including such valuable topics as:

  • Building Database Applications with Remote Support in Mind - A Developer Viewpoint Webcast

  • Security Primer for Mobile Computing

  • Getting Started with SQL Anywhere: Synchronizing with MobiLink (there ya go, Harry)

and many, many more
