Hi, im trying to upgrade from servoy 4 to servoy 5 on vista, ive tried the exe which goes closest to succeeding but seems to fail with some reference to administration permissions which should not be an issue as im installing as an administrator.
anyone have any ideas?

And did you perhaps changed name of the .exe file (which is a BIG no-no).

i just ran the exe file, didnt change the name,
went with all defaults overwrite existing directory etc

You ran the installer and installed over your version 4 installation ? That is not recommended.
If you want to update in place you should run the servoy_updater.jar in your servoy directory. Or else run the installer and install into a new directory.
what kind of error do you exactly get at what point?
Are you still in the installer?

Funny thing about Vista…even though you have ‘Administrative’ rights doesn’t mean you have full control. To install some programs, you have to right-click on the installation program, then select ‘Run as administrator’, even if you already have administrative rights.
If that doesn’t work, try turning off UAC (User Account Control) in Vista before installing Servoy. Don’t forget to turn it back on when done installing.

Hi, ive tried several more times on 2 different vista pc’s both from the exe and the .jar
i get some error code about “EB” which happen to be my initials but guess thats just coincidence.
ive tried running exe as the administrator but nothing at all happens.
someone mentioned using servoy_updater.jar for an upgrade could you please let me know where to download this?
still struggling with the clean vista install on the other pc

Hi Eugene,
servoy_updater.jar is what you use to update a server, not Servoy Developer.
You will find it at the root of your Servoy install folder.

guess im back to square 1 then, the error im getting installing servoy using the .exe and .jar is “invalid type code: EB”

that’s a really weird error you got here. Are you sure of the integrity of the file you downloaded?

ive discovered ive got bigger problems in that all my servoy relationships are faulty on my main solution,
im not sure at what point it happened but think it was when i upgraded have you come across this before?
i dont suppose there is an easy fix by an chance

I can’t imagine how your relationships ended up screwed because of Servoy 5.
I suppose there is no easy workaround, but surely you’ve got some back-up working in Servoy 4?

I am trying to revert to our last properly working version which is servoy 2.2 when we know everything was working ok.
but in trying to do that I now get an error saying “could not retrieve from data” and little seems to work.
ive searched the forum other users getting this error which is referrenced quite a lot more not found any real leads on how to fix it yet.
any ideas?

Wow! 2.2 you say? I had no idea it still existed, and you imported into Servoy 5?
What I don’t understand is how using the 2.2 version with 2.2 could have been changed by your experience, except maybe that you are using the same repository and you mangled everything in the process?
I am at loss as to help you, I guess you will need to ask some support from Servoy.

we didnt go straight from 2.2 to 5
there were a few versions in between
we went from 2.2 to 3 and maybe thats where our relationships got mangled
I certainly got overwhelmed by some of the new versions and upgrading and didnt have time to try and figure it out
then we tried a few more upgrades hoping that things might improve in terms of what was working with our solutoions
3.5 was it then 4 something and then most recently to 5, but i dont know where the relationships got mangled
in 5 we can see solutions and forms but most of the relationships are screwed up.
our last working version is in 2.2 which we still had an old copy of so we installed it but get that error
“could not retrieve from data”
the servoy staff still help through this forum dont they?

what you could do is send over a support request to us with the solution you have from 2.2 then we can look if we can help you converting it to 5.

the thing is though at the moment ive not got a working version in 2.2 either which i cant understand
i get the error “Could not retrieve form data.” and when i click Details, it is blank.
I’ve noticed from the forum when people get this error the detail button usually gives them a clue but in my case not.
id like to at least get it working in 2.2 again before sending it to you

do you also get that couldnt receive form data in the developer or on a client on localhost of the server?
Yes, thats all im trying to do at the moment is get the developer working on the localhost of the server
and its in developer on the server that i get “Could not retrieve form data.” with blank Details
i have not thought about trying clients with the develop not working
what is the error in log file?
